Privacy Policy
Effective date: January 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Hooklayer (“Hooklayer”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the “Service”). This policy does not replace any data processing agreement you may have with us for Customer Data.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect details such as name, email address, and billing information (if applicable).
Usage information. We collect logs and telemetry about how the Service is accessed and used, including pages viewed, actions taken, and approximate location derived from IP address.
Device and connection information. We collect technical data such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps for security and troubleshooting.
Customer Data (webhook events). The Service processes and stores webhook payloads and metadata that you or webhook senders provide to Hooklayer on your behalf.
Support communications. If you contact us, we collect information you provide in messages and attachments.
2. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service (including verification, storage, delivery, retries, and replay).
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including support and administrative messages.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help operate the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, customer support tooling), under contractual obligations to protect data.
- Your destinations as part of the Service’s functionality: webhook events are delivered to URLs you configure.
- Legal and safety when required to comply with law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with appropriate safeguards).
4. Customer Data roles
For Customer Data (webhook payloads), you typically act as the “controller” (or equivalent) and Hooklayer acts as a “processor” (or equivalent), processing data on your instructions to provide the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis to process and share Customer Data with Hooklayer and to deliver it to your configured destinations.
5. Data retention
We retain personal information and Customer Data for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Event retention periods depend on your plan and settings. After retention periods expire, data may be deleted or anonymized.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for configuring security features such as signing secrets and destination authentication.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.
8. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. For Customer Data, requests should generally be directed to the account owner (controller). You can contact us to exercise applicable rights.
10. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. The effective date at the top indicates when the policy was last updated.
